On November 5, 2024, the citizens of South Dakota faced Amendment G, a ballot measure that would add a new section to the Bill of Rights (Article VI) of the South Dakota Constitution. The initiative would allow for abortion through all nine months of pregnancy by vaguely laying out by trimester framework how abortion might be regulated.
The South Dakota Catholic Conference, along with other pro-life groups, produced several resources to help citizens understand the dramatic changes that would take place if this amendment passed. Their efforts were rewarded when 59% of voters rejected the amendment.
