TYLER, – “As 40 peaceful days of prayer, fasting, vigil and outreach draw to a conclusion, we will meet at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Parish Activity Center on Sunday, April 14t at 7 p.m. to rejoice in the victories that God has accomplished,” said Rev. Nolan Lowry, who is coordinating the 40 Days for Life campaign in Tyler, Texas.
Here are just a few of the highlights of the current campaign:
Over 500 vigil volunteers prayed in front of Planned Parenthood for 12 hours a day for 40 consecutive days.
Catholics, Baptists, Evangelicals, Episcopalians, and people of other faiths came together to pray for an end to abortion.
Outreach was offered to women by Living Alternatives, PRC and C.A.R.E. (Christ-centered Abortion Recovery & Education).
Speakers at the 40 Days for Life closing event include: Bishop Joseph Strickland of the Diocese of Tyler, Rev. Nolan Lowry, Coordinator, Sanctity of Life, Diocese of Tyler, and keynote speaker Mr. Jim Sedlak, Vice President of American Life League, and the Founder of Stop Planned Parenthood International.
“We want to conclude this effort by sharing stories about what 40 Days for Life has meant for Tyler and to offer thanksgiving for this opportunity to point out the harm abortion has done – and continues to do – to our city,” said Father Lowry. “We pray that these 40 days will help mark the beginning of the end of abortion in our community.”
“Though this rally may conclude our 40 Days for Life campaign, it only marks a beginning of a renewed commitment to ending abortion in our community. We look forward to seeing what God has in store next for our city,” said Father Lowry.
40 Days for Life is a peaceful, highly-focused, non-denominational initiative that focuses on 40 days of prayer and fasting, peaceful vigil at abortion facilities, and grassroots educational outreach. The 40-day time frame is drawn from examples throughout Biblical history.
